The programme aims to develop policy leaders - those who are (or intend to become) policy decision-makers and analysts. The programme prepares students for careers in both the public and private sectors. Students will be equipped with skills in policy coordination and responsiveness. They will develop skills in policy formulation, analysis and implementation to deal with complex public management issues. Students may specialize in one of  the following areas  of study:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Public Sector Governance
  • Public Policy Analysis
  • Public Finance
  • International Relations and Diplomacy
  • Education Sector Management
  • International Development
  • Monitoring and Evaluation

This programme will help Public Sector Executives acquire skills for transformational leadership and for dealing with the complexities of high level organizational management.  

A Bachelor's degree from an approved/recognized university with at least a second class division. Those applying for admission into the Executive Programmes must also have at least four years of management level experience.


  1. The MPA, EMGL and EMPA will be offered as modular programmes. The modular programme is designed to meet the needs of today's executives. The modules are covered over four three-week residential sessions. Each 3-week period is followed by 5-month non-residential guided study. All programmes are to be completed in 2 years. The modular programmes begin in August 2013.
  2. The Regular Programme (MPA/MDM) is based on a semester system and will be completed in two (2) years. Lectures will be held five (5) days a week. Lectures begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. each day. The Evening Programmes begin in September 2013.
  3. Full-time Programme: The MDM is also offered as a full time 12-month programme that will run from August 2013 to July 2014. As part of their studies, students may be invited to participate in an exchange programme with selected universities in Canada, U.S.A and Europe.

Limited scholarships may be available for applicants based on merit and need.

An application form and three (3) referee forms for the Programmes may be obtained from the Cashier's Office at GIMPA or downloaded from the Website – www.sog.gimpa.edu.gh.

Each form must be submitted along with an application fee of GH¢100.00.
